Now that I have a 97 Sidekick Sport with the 1.8 engine, all the stuff I know about 95's with the 1.6 engine is not so useful.
Like:
How the heck do I get that stupid cassette player out of the dash, so I can put in a good stereo?
and:
How the heck do I adjust the aiming on the left headlight?
It sounds like the timing chain tensioners are crapped out on this thing - hopefully they're easier to change than they were on my wife's 99 2.5 L V-6 GV!

Welcome back. Good to see another old timer coming back to the forum. I knew the sports had different running gear but didn't realize the headlights were different! I've wondered what is sportier about the Sport. Is the ride any different than a regular 4 door Kick?

Well...it's a bit wider, so it should corner a little better. My daily commute is Golden Gate Canyon, west of Denver http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Golden+Gate+Canyon,+Arvada,+CO+80403&sll=39.774154,-105.242767&sspn=0.025529,0.038495&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Golden+Gate+Canyon,+Arvada,+Jefferson,+Colorado+80403&ll=39.773747,-105.242758&spn=0.025529,0.038495&z=15 (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Golden+Gate+Canyon,+Arvada,+CO+80403&sll=39.774154,-105.242767&sspn=0.025529,0.038495&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Golden+Gate+Canyon,+Arvada,+Jefferson,+Colorado+80403&ll=39.773747,-105.242758&spn=0.025529,0.038495&z=15) With about 18 miles of twisty roads, and 4,000 feet of elevation gain/loss. It handles just fine.
I don't know if the headlights are different or not - I just can't seem to find the adjusters, and the left headlight is definitely aimed HIGH!

The Gnewt is just fine...but she's got 4Runner CV axles now, and 33's. Caprica is the replacement for my 95 4-door daily driver.
She's named Caprica because she's my SIXTH Sidekick.
If you watched the new Battlestar Galactica, you know the connection between "Caprica" and "Six"...

The headlight adjuster is a small hole in the headlight door under the light... The Sports drive and handle a TON better than the regular kicks... The frame is 3" wider with the same size A-arms and a 3" wider rear axle and a stouter front swaybar... They have much larger front brakes, but the factory ABS sucks! Take the fuse out for it and you will be much happier... If the engine gives up on you, the 2.0 is a direct bolt-in, but use the intake and crank angle sensor (basically the distributor drive in the back of the head...) from the 1.8. It runs down the road like a pissed off redhead woman! Hehe! The 1.8 throttle body is about 25% larger bore than the 2.0 and you have zero wiring to make it work! I just sold mine so I can leave state to go to work for the winter... I got stuck with a Heep truck for now... >:(
