Title: Just bought an 03 GV 2 Months ago :D
Post by: Shadow on November 17, 2009, 06:43:33 PM
Just bought an 03 GV 2 Months ago :D. It's a 5spd with 140k. The interior is like new and motor sounds tight!

Well anyways as I have always been into building and wheeling suzukis I couldn't help but to start modding this one.

I bought an OME lift with the HD coils ( 1/2" Taller, but same spring rate) and 1" front coil spacers and 1.5's for the rear.

Anyways I am stuck on what tire size to run.  Stock tires run in the 27" range, and 225 75 16's spec'd by BFG as being 29.5's. Thats only 1.25"s bigger in radius, and I'm assuming I'll be close to 2.5"s of lift. I'm tempted to try 245's which measure around 30.7 so thats about a 1.8" radius. I guess I over analyze, but I want the most bang for my buck :).

I plan on regearing to 5.125's, and in the future either running the g/v case doubled to a dana 300, or the OTT adapter for the toy case. I feel comfortable with the stock low range ,but with 5.125's to accommodate, running easy to hard mountain pass trails as I've done pretty well with stock sidekick low range.

Thanks

Chris

you will have a hard time getting the ott kicker adapters to work with your 5 speed, the output splines are a different size. now, if it was an auto, you would have no problem.

just a heads up.

and as for tires, we had 245/75/16 MT/R's on our old GV, but we also had a 3inch susp lift and  a 2 inch body lift to clear them.
it depends on if you want to trim or not. with a lower truck.  mind you looking at my old pic, i had lots of room up top, so you may be able to get away with it.

Thanks for the reply. I want to keep it as low as possible for stability when off-roading. I've always done this with my samurais :D.

i run 1.5inch coil spacers up front, 1.75inch rears with x.7 coils, ssr's that measure 31.5 with a 2inch body lift and still had to trim the internal fenderwell on my tracker, this is with stock rims, trimming would be worse if i offset the rims.  chop chop!!
