Title: Front wheel hubs
Post by: thefourthhorseman on November 21, 2009, 06:35:46 PM

I have to replace the front drivers-side wheel hub on my 96 Tracker.  This is the hub that the brake fits onto and the wheel bearing fits in.  Apparently, this is a dealer only part.

It is a 96 Tracker, 4X4 with manual hubs on it.   It is a 2 door with the 1.6 liter engine.

Does anyone know what all years & models of hubs will work?

I have a 96 parts tracker...but it is 2 wheel-drive.

I know where there is an older 2-door metal top Tracker at.  It is a 4X4 with auto-hubs.

I need to find one in a hurry...might resort to salvage yards on Monday.

Any help is much appreciated!!!

The hubs are all the same, the spindle on a 2wd is plugged where the half
shaft goes thru to engage the lockout hub, and is also missing a brass support.

wheel bearings can be really tough to get loose to get the hub off, you might
see if you can get the hub wrench and take it with you to the wrecking yard

So,

Will a back-hub fit on the front & vice-versa?  Will it have the threaded holes to mount the locking-hubs on it?

By hub, I mean the center piece that has the wheel studs.  This piece fits in the brake rotor and the wheel bearing fits inside the hub.

Wild...is there anyway that you can send me your phone number?  I have a few questions that I would like to get clarified.

I can't imagine that these would even be close, in design to each other.
