I was just trolling through some forums exploring some more ideas and came across this link. Its NOT for a tracker/kick, at least not directly... :) But I have an obsession with the independent setup and have been looking at possible modifications...
Maybe some of you will respect it, or maybe I'm just wierd to drool over stuff like this.

That's pretty kewl...but I bet it weighs half as much as a Trac/Kick... :)

No doubt. I guess they use 1.5 ton axles and I'm sure the knuckles are bomb proof....
I'm just dreaming, but:
How about using the the tracker knuckles and toyota CV and center a modified toyota housing, maybe even downsizing some of the bracing? You probably could shave 100-150 lbs off....I really like how they incorporated the hydraulic steering...
The main problem would have to be getting the engine to mount/clear without sacrificing too much.
....Maybe I should wakeup now. ;)

Well, I've got Kick knuckles, 4Runner CV's, and Suzuki center, in a solid steel housing...
I've also got just a single a-arm, instead of dual a-arms.

Its hard not to argue that you get a "better" setup with dual arms. The problem, at least I think it is, becomes centering the diff and allowing the clearance. Center the diff and you can run longer CVs which help in the battle for more travel.
Dont get me wrong the tracker can be modded to be pretty capable up front....but really they are only getting less then 10" of travel.
I know this isnt a "new" idea... And maybe I'm beating a dead horse by even talking about it, but its not as bad as " What Tire can I fit?"...And I know Hagen Documented some on his orange rig, and I always was impressed with its flex:

I just thought the idea of first post looks all nice and prewty, almost looks like a bolt on mod. Figured I might get a conversation or two out of some of you Independent guys.

I've been toying with this for awhile. I want a set-up that requires minor fabbin' for the amatuers. Maybe made out of junk yard or off the shelf stuff. I keep getting hung up on HD CV axles with good range of travel. The slip joint ones like in the pic above cost (get ready....) about $650!! EACH!! I would sure like to know of any HD slip yoke, splined CV axles that were produced for any vehicle I could find in a U.S. junk yard.

Yes it's 2wd, but I think it could be adapted pretty easy.

It was the Liberty Overlands setup from the Zukiworld Challenge. I believe there was some binding issues with the shocks, but you would have to ask Eric. Sadly a computer took him out of the competition early.

I cant believe he brought an 8 valve and didnt bring a spare computer!
