ok, i know it is best to have both left and right cv systems to be the same. which one is suposed to be switched out? when i went to got my tranny last week the guy gives me this alum. spacer and said when i make both the L & R sides the same i will need it. well since i am working on the front end >:( now i should go ahead and do this i think. what exactly am i to do here and why and what is this nifty lil spacer for. looks like a flat dounut with 3 holes. and it was free ;)

If it's got 3 holes, then it's probably for the driver's side, since that's the one with the bolted flange.
Why do you need a spacer? ???

Why do you need a spacer?
aparently so the shaft wont pull out, what he told me. so do i convert both to drivers sides or passanger sides?
-
OK, the spacer is for the A-arm relocation,
see Hagen A-arm article, tho he didn't use
a spacer, he solved his with a different method.
You don't need it if you just switch to drivers
side CVs, and yes you want to switch to drivers
side CVs so you can change them easy on the
trail, 3 bolts instead of popping out the stubby
axle on the Pass side :-/
Be happy you got your spacer for free, I paid $60
to have one made, and what he said was not so
the axle won't pull out, it's so the CV won't pull
apart, and all the ball bearings fall out into the
dirt, kind of a pain on the trail :o
Use grade 8 nuts and bolts, lock washers and nylock
nuts, these darned things like to work loose, and
that's also a pain on the trail.

wow thanks wild! so just to be clear i use the spacer on the pass side till i switch both to the driver side type? will check out artical thanks agian, good advice ;D
-
No, the spacer is needed after the swap
to all Drivers side CV shafts, or when you
do the A-arm relocation it is needed on
both sides.

thanks wild, got it. ;)
um but what is thisor when you
do the A-arm relocation it is needed on
both sides
is that when you get the calmini lift or have i missed a cool mod?
-
A-arm relocation moves the CV axle out
one inch, so you need to add somthing
to make up for it

lets say for instance someone did the a-arm move first and didnt mess with the cv axles?

You would not have 4WD as the CV shafts
would be laying on the ground.
Well not really, you can't hook them up,
they are too short
