Title: throttle sticking at idle?
Post by: mike5721947 on December 01, 2009, 05:08:08 PM
ok, ive had this problem for a while with no change. ive ran thottle body cleaner through the engine sprayed right on the throttle valve with no change.

the truck will run fine other then it idles at 1500 rpm most of the time. 2000 cold idle. going to be checking it with a external tach soon, the truck will be good till i lift off the throttle and it goes back to idle, doesnt matter if the truck is in gear or in nuteral. although i havent gotten it to do it with the engine off. it will stick until the pedal gets a good jar (usually me stomping on it) take a good force to get it to release.
it doesnt seem like its in the cable as ive tried to just move the throttle at the throttle body and it doesnt move. im thinking im just going to have to pull the throttle body and pull it all apart and clean it by hand.

more likely the plate is getting wedged into the bore, just adjust the stop screw
a little it might help the stuck at idle condition

X2.  I had the same problem once on a samurai I bought.  The problem seemed to be that the idle stop screw (you know, the one that you are NEVER supposed to touch) had been moved.  I ended up adjusting it to the same spec as one of my other samurais and it took care of the issue.
