Title: Brakes To Big Need Help
Post by: KyleBBeck on December 04, 2009, 10:35:15 PM
I have put snow tracks on my 1993 sidekick.  the tracks only clear the front and rear brakes by 1/2"  I was wondering if another break will fit that is a smaller diameter.  Here is a picture in my attachment.  THEY work great but would like alittle more clearance.  ANY help would be great..   -KYLE

I think he means ground clearance.

your kinda stuck with the rear brakes. but the fronts are bigger than a 2 door sidekick/tracker. people lifting and putting bigger tires on 2 doors often convert over to 4 door brakes for more stopping power. i dont know much about the conversion but i'm sure you could do it the other way. the search engine here works great ;)

The Rear is not really the big Deal the Front Calipers Rub when the Track flexes. Thanks For you help!

That is really cool.  Never seem them put on a 4 door.  Other than the brake issue how well does it work?

4-door vs. 2-door front disc brakes... The diameter of the rotors are the same. The 4-door is vented and thicker but same diameter. The caliper on 4-door is a bit wider (thicker rotor) and maybe a bit taller but not much.. Now on the back the 2-doors have smaller drums vs. the 4-doors in diameter.

Could you put on a wheel spacer and space the tracks out a bit?

hey Kyle glad to see you joined the forum. I am Andrew the guy you bought it from. it looks nice. how is the power? did you have to take off the bumpers to clear the tracks or is it just for looks? I thought that I would never need the tires I gave you, but I have a need for them. do you want to get rid of them? did you find a new door handle? there is a couple of kicks getting parted out close by. one in Vancover the other in Gresham.

Andrew thanks for the Suzuki, seems to be working.  The bumpers are off right now because I'm putting a body lift on.  I  will be puting them back on as soon as I get done.  I think I might build my own front bumper unless I can find a brush guard for a winch.  Right now I have no need for the tires.  You can have them right after I take it i the snow the first time.  I just want to make sure everything works before I'm tireless.  We are going to our cabin over Christmas I know thats 2 weeks away but Ireally want to make sure everything works first.  Also Plenty of power the only thing I dont like is when I  push in the clutch its like the brake is on because there is so much flat surface on the tracks there is no free rolling.

Did not build them got them from  www.atvtracks.net (http://www.atvtracks.net)    You need to order the RTV tracks.  they are designed for a heavier rig.  The Rear tracks each have 52" on the surface and the front 40"  they are pretty cool
