What is the difficulty level of converting a gen 2 grand vitara from 2wd to 4wd. Is it like the gen 1 trackers where you just have to buy the parts and install them or is there mounting fabrication involved? I am asking cause I am looking for a 4x4 grand vit. for my wife and all I can find in this area are 2wd.

keep looking! or if you really want to do the conversion buy my front end, manufacturer warranty just ended last week, will sell the whole front diff/axle assembly.
-
Keep looking for a 4x4, it's not worth the work to change it.
-
Keep looking for the 4wd it is not worth the aggravition to make the swap
-
Anybody got a 4x4 Grand vitara for sale? I got $4000 cash.
-
Where are you located, ajbiglin?

I agree just buy a 4x4 version much cheaper....but if your rich and have your own shop and space swap away
-
It doesn't make sense unless you fall into a deal on axles, tranny, transfer case and all of the odds -n- ends necessary. But..... if you were to buy Toy axles and all the goodies then your talkin. ;D
Otherwise look for something that meets your (her) needs.

Ha-Ha...
After I said all of that I was looking at Craig's list for some project parts. Low and behold I find 2 suitable Geo parts vehicles (entire trucks). Each of them for less than 800.00 so deals are out there if you choose to make the swap.
