Hello everybody,
I've been busy last Christmas. Lucky me i had to work so i had plenty of time to work on my vitara. So i made my adapter.
Now i have identical axles on both sides.
I have more pics but i can only post four at one time.

Nicely done. A very worthwhile mod.
Also I notice on your axle drop bracket you modified it to tie into the center section bolts. This is the second time I have seen this on here. Is it common with the grp you run with?
The fronts always have been a weak link, because of the aluminum, so I was curious if this bracket mod helps....I'm sure it couldnt hurt....But it seems to make sense that it would help prevent more rotation of the axle, which leads to busted mount holes....

Thats exactly the reason he did this. If you combine that modification with a horsecollar strap type of modification to the pinon mount, your front diff should handle 33's to 35's as Whitfield did (from zuwharre forums)
I beleive that modification is to strength the passenger-side mount, as that tends to break almost as much as the pinon mount as well.

I.did this to make everything stronger. The main reason is that i have to cut the lower mounting hole of the bracket otherwise my adapter didn't fit because i wanted to use normal (hexagon) bolts, instead of inner round hex bolts. Now i can use normal wrenches to replace the axle
And of course it makes everything stronger. It's always helpfull on an alloy diff.
I didn't know that is was done before. I come from Holland and it's not a common mod in Holland. No one of the drivers i know has this mod.

---Great "Suzuki" minds think alike---
This topic is brought up in numerous websites, its nice to see peoples fab work used to strengthen these front axles.
The link were I saw it before is shown here:

And the horse collar idea, mentioned by Bryce, I have explored also....I think Jim Mazzola was the first to do it. Linked here:

Your mod definitely made it stronger. I guess you now get to wheel it and try it out. Let us know how it works.

...and it was covered here many years ago! :) Although maybe a bit indirectly as part of other modifications. It's always worth it to browse through the Archive and Gear Guide sections.. You never know what you may find! :)
