Hi guys,
My 2000 Grand Vitara 2.5L V6 with H25 engine has been on the shed for almost a year now. One of the pistons was "holed" when it collided with the valves. The cylinder sleeve was deeply scratched, valve heads bent/cut, cam lobe scoured heavily, 2 valve seats damaged also, and the comb. chamber needs some welding also. In essence, the engine is I think scrap already. Suzuki Philippines can't provide all the parts needed to rebuild the whole thing, and if they were to order it from Japan it would take time (a month at least) and would cost so much. I tried looking for a surplus engine but until now no luck. There are lots of Suzuki's roaming around in the Philippines but this particular model seems to be a rare thing, though common wear parts are available in auto supply stores.
I'm thinking of swapping the engine with a common suzuki engine, but I don't have a clue what would be the possible donor machine. Would a Suzuki Vitara JLX or Samurai fit as there are lots of them here? Or perhaps any common Toyota/Honda engine fit in the engine bay? If a swap is possible, I'm hoping it to be easy like none/minimal body modifications or if possible my old tranny be used. I won't mind using a smaller capacity engine be it a diesel or gasoline for the swap.
I hope somebody here can help me out.
thanks in advance

You should be able to get a complete 2nd hand engine from Japan - there is a thriving export market for good 2nd hand engines, because they scrap so many vehicles at the 5 and 7 year mark.
Of course, your local Suzuki dealer won't be keen to help, but there must be importers of JDM engines.

IN my Experience when you start going with none stock engines from different vehicles outside your model area prepare yourself for HIGH costs most likely be cheaper in the end to buy yourself another gv donor vehicle....or like IAnL said find someone who will import you an engine...I dont understand how your having trouble finding tyou particular engine.....just went up to my local junkyard they had 3-4 gv 2.5l sitting in the yard when i went up to find a liscence plate cover for the back....

a local surplus/2nd hand engine dealer offered me an old model GV, he said its a V4??? is there such a GV?

No, there is no V4 in the Suzuki lineup. If it's a 4 cylinder, it's a straight 4.
