Title: 96 Sidekick Sport 4DR
Post by: sportkick on January 04, 2010, 05:51:32 PM
I bought this truck last year for $500. Started to investigate any aftermarket parts for sidekicks, cause hey stock just don't cut it. This truck has a 1.8 DOHC and has pretty much 300,000km on the truck now. Have been back in the bush on a friend's farm, run powerline roads/trails and county forests with it. It's my daily driver and been great. Have checked out Calmini site and Rocky Road Outfitters to name a few. Some parts say for kick/tracker non Sport and some will work on all. Have also looked at ACME deisel conversion, is the bellhousing the same as 1.6 8V/16V? What's different about a 1.8 Sport?l

1.8 Sport is a J series engine rather than the older G series engine. I understand that the 2ltr and 2.3ltr J engines are a relatively simple swap. The simpler suspension lifts fit OK but the Sport frame is wider than the 1.6 models. There are a couple of posts here about fitting the Calmini kit to a Sport (V6 model outside US)

My lift will fit the Sport model. That is what it is based off of, a 97 4dr. Sport.
