Title: window
Post by: jawman on January 13, 2010, 05:59:25 PM
I don't know what is wrong with these window regulators, but they all seem to be bad on almost ever 2dr I have seen. I found one, but is is out of a 4 door and I have a 2 door. will it fit? mine wont go down unless I force it, but it gets jammed both ways BAD. I took the door panel off, but I don't know how to get to the regulator and take it out. can they be fixed or what?

Ya, they can be fixed, they are cables and they get dry and sticky.
Make sure you lubricate them before the cables get off track and
jammed, they are a real PITA to get back on right.

Remove the door panel, there are several screws that hold it into
place, take the screws out of the window and pull it out of the top,
when the screws are all out of the regulator it can be "folded" slightly
to get it out of the door, I used some WD-40 to get it moving again,
but that won't last, you need a good solvent and oil, I used PB Blaster
last time and then some spray white grease, so far it's working, but I
don't know what would be the best lube for it.
