I would say that 35's are a good match for those gears depending what you do with the rest of the drivetrain. Lots of people say the 5.71 are weak but I have no personal experience with that. I put 5.29 in mine and run 36's with lots of gearing ahead of the axles. It is a bit of a slug onroad but really shines offroad. Boils down to what you want it to do?

That setup should give you decent power onroad and not be too much at risk of breakage. I would get some stronger birfs if you plan to wheel it much though. Here is a link to my build http://www.zukiworld.com/forum/build-diaries-how-to-diy/project-kickota/ (http://www.zukiworld.com/forum/build-diaries-how-to-diy/project-kickota/)

I have the Trail Tough kit on a X90. Yota axles & 5:71s. 33" is aprox the size tires I run. I don't think the veh. has the power or weight to break the toyota ring/pinion 5:71's . I've gone through 2 automatic trans. & conv. to 5speed. Now on my second one of those & second motor as well ! Diff's ? No problem as of yet. Now how does the gearing work? fine with 33's. I get on flat ground & pull 5th gear no problem. Low range could be better better but 5:71 is as far as I care to go. 35's or taller would be a problem to pull. 8)
