ive put it on the battery charger and checked the connections. the starter just won't engage. any ideas?
-
faulty starter relay most likely, I think I've read its a common issue. lowrangeoffroad.com sells a relay kit to fix it. if you can, get a 2nd person and see if you're getting voltage to your starter when you turn the key.

What Bobthebiker said. A quick test is to jump 12v straight to the starter solenoid and see if it starts. Make sure the rig is in neutral first!
-
thanks but i just tried and that didn't work. I'm taking the starter out and ima go take it to advanced for them to check it
-
yep, definitely have them check it then. I'll locate the relay kit if you want to replace that as well. I spend like 90% of my day online right now, so its pretty easy.

yea the starter is bad, so ima try and find one on ebay. but someone said u can have them rebuilt? is this true?
-
Most towns have a shop that rebuilds starters and alternators. When I lived in Chico Calif, I knew of 3 within a few miles of each other. Its so much cheaper to have it rebuilt than buy a rebuilt. I actually had one rebuilt in my Corvette and it cost me $30 when it was over $200 for one at the auto supply..

yea they hav a new one at advanced for $93 but ima check the local rebuild shop tommorow, i already found the #, thnx for all your help. i just got my samurai about a month ago. my friend got one about a yr ago and ive been in love ever since, ive been savin 4 about 6-8 months. its kkinda hard wen im still in highschool
