Title: engine swap question?

i would like to know how hard it would be to swap my 8v for a 16v in my 89 tracker and what all i would need to do to get in up and running. ie what parts i need like ecm wire harness. thanks joe

from everything i gathered it should just bolt in, minus the wiring harness. whereever you get the 16v from i would rob the harness as well. But make sure if your using an auto tranny the 16v comes from an auto tranny, i'm not too sure if the bellhousing on the 5spd is the same as that on the autos

The bell housings go with each tranny, and they will interchange as
the 16V and the 8V blocks are the same castings, the difference is
in the pistons and the head/intake and exhaust manifolds

you can send the 16V harness to a few companies and they will mod it for you to plug and play. It's not cheap but it saves alot of hassles.

Are you going to a 96 and up 16v or one from a 95 and older?  96 and up used the ODBC II computer system and may require additional wiring changes.
