I own a 88 zuki samurai it currently is on 31s with 2 inch shackles, I was wondering how I do a spring over without having to do to much to the truck. All i want is a smoother ride the current ride is very stiff. Is it possable to do a spoa without having to weld or extending the brake lines? I cant weld and brake lines can be a pain.

do you know what kit would provide the smoothest ride for my samurai? Even if its not spoa. One question, would the CALMINI 2" Shackle Reverse provide a better ride then the CALMINI 3" Suspension System?

If your going SPOA and don't want to pay for the full bolt on kit expect to do some welding. It's just the nature of the beast, you need to put new spring pads on top. The SPOA also won't improve your ride that much over stock, but it would help over the shackle lift.
If you want the best possible ride without switching to coils I would look at a YJ spring conversion. That will give you around 3" of lift and a much softer ride.
For a bolt on slight lift and softer ride I would look at a set of OME 1.5" lift springs. They are a softer ride then stock and aren't a large enough lift for you to worry about brake lines and longer drive shafts.

Well this morning I went outside to get ready to go into work and noticed that it already had the reverse shackle kit in it....yeah I know Im stupid for not even noticing it already had it for 3 months lol. Anyways what mods would be needed to put the OME 1.5 springs in on top of the already 2 inch reverse shackles? Do they make stock OME springs? if so link please! Thank you!

No they only have heavy duty springs with 1.25 inch lift and med. duty 1.5 inch lift, i have the med.
duty and measures a hair over two inch lift from stock the ride is outstanding. Carefull if ordering
there u-bolts right front side uses two diff. sized u-bolts there catalog shows same size...
They also say you must use there spring bushings that's incorrect same size bushings as stock can
use what ever brand you prefer.

Installing a SPOA will pretty much require you to disconnect the brake lines in order to position the axles. You MAY be able to keep the brake lin intact if you are careful about removing the springs. That said, if you have to disconnect the brake lines, you might as well add brake line extensions. The bleeding process will be the same. Speed bleeders at each wheel work best to make the job easier.
There are self-aligning bolt-on SPOA kits. Unless you are only mall-crawling your Samurai you really want to weld these in place at your first opportunity.
ANY suspension lift (spring-over or under) will introduce bump steer. Bump steer is when the steering wheel "twitches" when you hit a bump or pothole. The higher the lift, the worse bumpsteer gets. Do a search at Ack's FAQ (http://www.acksfaq.com) for bump steer for an explanation of bump steer.
A soft ride in a Samurai is like a pillow fight with sandbags. I have no personal experience with the YJ spring conversion, but a LOT of folks swear by the improved ride. Someday I might make that mod...

When you spring a Samurai over you have to think about a few things.
Drive lines need to be extended/spaced.
Brakes and shocks need to be longer.
Steering changes. You would need High steer/Drop pitman arm/Z-link.
The more you add to it, the more you have to alter it.
If you are just looking for better ride quality and not so much the 4x4 side of it. I would go SPUA with YJ's.

i have an SPOA rig and i like it, but personally wouldnt want to have done the work myself. It was installed professionally by previous owner.
yes,
steering should be reconfigured (hi-steer)
drivelines must be lenghtened using spacers
brakelines lenthened
shocks are typically lengthened and remounted.
also if you keep stock springs the ride is rough, better springs mean MORE lift, not a way to get around that.
My next rig is definitely going to be SPUA with YJ or similar longer lift springs for a better ride.

This is in the mail to me. I have used these guys before and they make great stuff and a extremely knowledgeable. ill post pics etc of how mine went in. it says bolt on but depending on how it connects i may also weld some spots.
