Title: No fire to spark plugs
Post by: mcdavis1216 on March 22, 2010, 01:39:45 PM
Can anyone help with this problem?? I have just bought a 1990 Suzuki Samurai and cant figure out why I am not getting spark.
I have tried putting in another coil and ignitor module and the relay on the firewall and nothing. Any ideas on what else i could try.    Thanks

are you sure your plug wires themselves are good?    over time, they do fail you know.

You just bought it - was it running when you bought it?

Pull the oil filler cap and low down it whilst someone else cranks the engine - is the cam turning?

I took the dist cap off so I know the rotor is turning so the cam should be turnin, It was running when my friend parked it and then it wouldnt start and no fire when I picked it up. It is a EFI engine it has three wires cumin from the pick up coil. I know you can check a 2 wire but I have no idea how to check a 3 wire.

Could be the ECM.  They are known to go bad in the samurais (90-95).
