I took my 1994 2wd tracker out after some big rains, and I went through some deep water. It never got stuck, but my exhaust was having trouble from the start. I made it through everything but at the end it died, and now it won't start. The engine turns over and comes close to starting but it just dies again. It died about an hour ago, and I tried it since then and I'm going to try it again tomorrow. It was running fine, just had the putt putting sound of stuff in the exhaust.
Will it work if I just give it time, or are there steps I need to take to clear the engine after going through really deep water (headlights went under) My tracker is completely stock, and I was out with a Dodge 2500 V10 on 40" tires... didn't get stuck once and was doing great until it died. The exhaust has a lot of mud in it I think.
Thanks for any help!

Will it actually roll over? It may be hydro-locked if you sucked up water. Remove the spark plugs and roll it over.
Could also be a wet distributor, remove cap, spray with WD40, or allow to dry, or replace.
Or-just wet wires, this will take time, open hood, allow to dry.

just let it sit for awhile. this happens all the time. you just have to let the water dry out of everything.

Yep, I tried it again today and it started right up. I'm pretty amazed, its in complete working order and runs great... Now I need a lift and a locker.

well, less weight(no t-case, front axle) but no low range or front wheel drive? i can do without low range but the front 2 wheels? when i broke the long axle in my front end i attempted to get back across the mud pit in the shallowest part and still got stuck :-/
but i guess if you have never had it you don't know what your missing. lol

4x4 isn't really an option, unless I do a conversion somehow. I'm 17 and I have no job...
How hard would it be to make my tracker 4x4? And how much would it cost?

If ya were close to Portland Or, I'd make ya a good deal on the parts and help ya out.

Damn sorry I'll fill it out now, I forgot about that. Sadly I am no where near portland, just about as far away as possible. I'm in St. Augustine, Florida.

Bummer, well, it's the thought that counts.

Thanks anyway. ;D Is there a guide anywhere with a list of the parts I would need and how to do a conversion?
-
I'm thinking your best bet would be to find a complete non running donor vehicle...then you'll have all the parts you need for cheap
-
Yeah I'm gonna start checking junk yards around here... anyone got a non running 4x4 tracker/sidekick 89-94 (i think) that they wouldnt mind me taking off their hands? For money of course.

I should just give you my fourwheel drive and take your 2wd stuff since there is no way i can even take railroad track fast let around offroad. ;D
