Does anyone know if the 2.5L will mount to the tranny that comes with the 2.0L? I'm on my 3rd head in my 2.0L Tracker and this one just cracked. I'm tired of fucking with the 2.0L, and I found a 2.5L in the junkyard today...=)

Write to Trail Tough in Wash State. They should know i it does. they have a kit to put the 2.0 into a Sammy so I bet they would know if the 2.5 will fit the tranny.

Well the 2.0L Tracker, the 2.5L Tracker, and the 2.5L Vitara all have the same tranny, the mx0..supposedly. I found that Saturn Vue's also have a tranny labeled "mx0", so maybe it's just some generic name?

I believe they'll bolt up.
You'll need to swap in an ECU from a 2.5 as well, along with any brackets / mounts / sensors peculiar to the 2.5.
Not sure if the 4-banger radiator will handle the V-6's additional cooling needs and just plumb up "as is".

Yeah, I already planned on taking the ECU, along with all the wires and sensors on the motor. I know the oil pans are different, and so the diff requires a different mounting bracket. I will also need motor brackets..
Thanks for the heads up on the radiator, I have been thinking about that.

Trailtough is in Medford, Oregon and the owner is named Brent. Good guy to know. Hawk Strictly Suzuki is about 30 miles up the 5 in Merlin. FYI.

Are we talking about auto or manual trannies here?
I know the 2.0 GV uses a different manual transmission to the 2.5 GV and I suspect the auto tranny is also not the same one - I took a look at the parts manuals and the part numbers are different - this doesn't mean it won't bolt up, but there is some difference somewhere.

I have an auto and the donor vehicle is an auto. the 2.5's and 2.0's have different 3rd and 4th gear ratio's, maybe that's why the part numbers are different?

Well I've decided I'm taking the computer and hopefully the engine mounts off the Vitara in the junkyard, but I'm buying a used 2.5L from the salavage yard that is garenteed to work. It'll be $1200-1600 for the engine, but I know it will be in good working order when I get it. If the tranny's are different, I'll swap in a 5 spd that fits the 2.5L...=)
