Title: oil press gauge

i have an 87 samurai i did a 1.6  16v swap  i don't like the lack of gauges so I'm putting in some  i would like to see a pic of how some of you hooked up the oil press tube and kept the stock sender   i would also to she the coolent temp to mine is electric  i want the stock gauges  and lights to work too    thanks for the help

Unfortunatly I don't have a photo of how I did my Oil Pressure guage, but I removed the stock sending unit, tapped the threads in the block with a 1/8 npt bottom tap ( cut off flat ) because I couldn't find the proper adapter for a tee fitting. I teed the oil pres guage and the sending unit for the low press lite off that. I think you can find the proper adapter at a import sports shop though, I believe it's a fine thread 10x1.25mm? someone correct me if I'm wrong. You could also take the sending unit in with you to match up the the thread pitch.

i work at an auto parts store i looked up the oil press switch the threads are 1/8" npt so I'm going to put in a tee    thanks for the help   not for the coolent temp

I've never fitted an oil pressure gauge to a G16, but, I've done it on a G13 and a J20 and both of those take a 1/8" BSPT (British Standard Pipe Tapered) fitting - not a 1/8" NPT or a metric fitting.

The 1/8" BSPT is very similar in size & appearance to a 1/8" NPT but both the taper and the thread pitch differ - so close that you can usually screw a 1/8" BSPT fitting into a 1/8" NPT hole but not the other way around.

Adapters that screw into the block and accept a 1/8" NPT fitting are available from both Equus & Autometer, however, these tend to be expensive, I sourced a fitting out of the UK and adapted it - even with shipping, it'll probably work out cheaper.

This fitting will screw directly into the block, however, it is designed for a 4mm tube rather than the 1/8" that most pressure gauges are supplied with, I simply swapped the 1/8" ferrule for the 4mm one and everything bolted up flawlessly.

A couple of cautions - try to avoid have a string of adapters, nipples, tees & sensors hanging off of the block - the brass fatigues and cracks because of the engine vibration - better you mount the tee where it can be secured and run a short line to the port in the block.

If possible avoid the use of the nylon tube supplied with the gauge, copper kits are usually sold where ever the gauges are sold - the nylon will slip in the ferrule and you end up with a leak - if you go with copper be sure to wind a "loop" or two to allow for flex due to engine movement.
