Title: belt driven turbo??

Hi Guys,
I'm new here but am looking for info on putting in a turbo. Does any one make a belt driven turbo? and do i need to put in a header or can i use stock exaust and do some welding to it?

someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isnt a belt drive turbo a supercharger?     

to run a turbo, you'll need to make, a header to accomodate it.

There is a belt driven super charger that looks like a turbo, but in
the true term, turbochargers are exhaust driven, and superchargers
are belt driven.

Paxton superchargers are belt driven, and look like a turbocharger, the
other style is a Roots type, like you see in drag racing, and then there
is a different style that was developed by VW called the G-ladder which
would probably be the hardest to find.

The Subaru turbo is fairly easy to find and boost is set to 8 PSI, which is
a little high for stock pistons (cast) but will work quite well.

The big question is do you have an 8V engine or a 16V engine???

I would not try to put a turbo on an 8V, there is just too much fabrication
to get it all working right, took me about 2 years of playing with different
systems and tuning to get it working well, so if you want a turbo motor, start
with a 16V engine and save yourself a lot of time and fabrication.

Bentparts has a good setup, I would start by researching what he has done

Its a 16 valve bone stock right now. I was looking at the electric super chargers but the affordable ones look like a scam.

Save your money and go buy a leaf blower, at least when it doesn't
work you will still have a leaf blower to clean your yard with  ;)

What, you mean that electric supercharger and 150HP chip I bought on ebay really doesn't work?!!!??! :laugh: It was only $39.95 for both!
