2001 grand vitara 4x4 v6.
I replaced the inner oil seals and repacked the bearings on the axles and put them back in. had to obviously hammer them back in place. each axle had a ticking noise to it though when I turn it by hand.
is this normal for those rearends? Also, when in neutral and turning the pinion yolk by hand neither axle moves on its own. I can feel a little resistance at first but neither spin. is this typical as well??
I know most normal rear diffs will turn either one or both axles when done by hand this way.

If you are turning an axle and the oposite axel is spinning the opposite direction, it is normal to hear and feel a ticking noise as the side gears walk around one another inside the diff. It is not normall for the wheel bearing to make a ticking noise. Wjen you spin the pinion, one or both of the wheels should spin. If you have a limited slip or locker, both will turn together.
