I have a 1990 sammy wanting alittle more lift cheap ive got 3 inch shackles now wondering if i could lift springs? Or is that too much? If i did what all would i have too change?

I have 3" taller shackles with a spring over axle lift it gave it roughly 7" of lift plus the lift I have from the 31" tires I run. I did have to add brake line extensions and a drop pitman arm it rides nice but if I had it to do over again I would not do both the shackles with the SPOA (only because the shackles I bought were homemade and they have eaten up the bushings). I also would not do the drop pitman again I would go with a Z-Link or something else like cross over steering. Good Luck with it.

why may i ask would you not run the drop pitman arm? i run the drop pitman arm and i was about to make my z link bar but what would the arm change? and i have the same lift shackles and a SPOA and i love it but i definitely wouldn't run the shackles they make it a little wiggly and you don't feel as in controlled on the road i have had 5 samurais and just a SPOA would do you on 31s and you will be able to go about anywhere

I don't mind the pitman arm as far as function (it works ok) but It took heating the old arm with a torch to get it off unfortunately the guy that did it blew out the bottom seal on the steering gear box so now it is lose all the time if I had waited to get the z-link I would not have had that problem though plus some z-links are adjustable for different lifts heights. I would not tell anyone to not run one but just be careful pulling off the old one.

I was SPOA with 2" lift Bonz-Eye springs.... the lifted springs were STIFF.
I went to YJ springs and it is alot better ride and alot more flex.
If I had to do it all over again, I would just save up $$$$ and buy the YJ kit from Trail Tough to start with and would have saved $$$ in the long run. It isn't cheap but I would have saved by just going that route from the start and being done.
The kit includes EVERYTHING you need except the YJ springs which can be bought used at local jeep shops or off of craigslist.

that kit is soooooooooo expensive lol thats crazy i think ill just build all my stuff im one broke dude ;D but that would be a GREAT kit for someone who has the money
