Title: plastic body siding

has anyone taken the plastic off the sidekick sport and replaced or done away with it all together?  I was thinking of puting on some fender flares like the bushwacker ones and maybe doing something else with the body where the plastic was maybe diamond plate or something stronger.  any thoughts?

I don't have a Sport, but I did add diamond plate to the lower parts of my Tracker. It really takes a beating in the woods here due to all the sharp underbrush. It would tear the paint right off without it, and folks tell me it looks good too. So far ( 3+ years) it's held up well.
