90 was the first year for EFI.

88.5s have square vents in the dash, a different instrument cluster, larger bolts and bolt patterns on the driveshafts, a single crosspin carrier in the front axle, a lower 5th gear ratio, 3/8" (10mm) square drive drain and fill plugs for the axles, tcase and tranny, a single rear rubber brakeline, different connectors on some of the wiring harness plugs in the engine bay.  There may be more differences....but that is all I can remember off the top of my head.
Yours may have all, some or none of what I listed above.....88.5s were transition samurais, so they were changing parts as they ran out of old stock.

I m kinda curious to know if miine is a 88 1/2 the dash vents are square or rather rectangled.  anyone have a pic of what that dash looks like.  I know I tach about 3400 at 60  I understand they are a tad bit lower geared in 5th.

The dash says it is an 88.5 or later.

If you want to know if the tranny is an 88.5, then check the drain and fill plugs.  3/8" square drive=88.5.  hex head (22mm or 24mm...can't remember which)=88.

I believe the 88.5 have softer springs from the factory as well, for the Cadillac of short wheelbase rides.
