Post by: zookiemike on July 06, 2004, 04:37:16 PM
Hey i was wondering..how hard is it? i have a tracker drivetrain and kinda want an auto :P. Is there any way i could use the t,case and all or do i need a two wheeler trany? That also brings another question to play...can you just change the tail housing on the trans.

thanks.Mike

Go through www.ottindustries.com and get a kicker3 that modifies the kick case to bolt to a sammy case and you can use the kick drivetrain in the sammy. And be sure to use the kick diff gears in the sammy with 33s, you will have the right gears for these tires.

The Trans tunnel in a Sammy is too small
for a Kick Trans, so you will need a body lift
so it will clear, also some of the Autos were
computer controlled, my 89 has torque convertor
lockup, but the newer ones have a full on
computer controlled shifting/hookups so be
ready to swap the whole system over

Good Luck

don't need a body lift just a BFH! ( big freekin  hammer) and a small bottle jack ... use the bottle jack ( hydrolic) to expand the tunnel and then the hammer to work back what ever else gets in the way

All 4 doors, except the 91, have the 4 speed Toyota built auto. The 91 4 door has the same 3 speed as the 2 door, the GM TH125.
Any kick trans will fit in a sammy with a little persuasion, i.e. BFH or a little tunnel cutting and refab. S.O.S. makes a tunnel for the kicker3.
