Title: motor swap ? X90
Post by: sprocket on May 22, 2010, 11:58:58 AM
Has anyone heard of swapping a 3100 GM V6 into a tracker/sidekick/x90?
I have a good motor sitting taking up space from a '94 beretta Z26, and we just picked up a second X90 that I'm itchin to make faster (turn some bigger tires on the road) and prob turn into a crawler.
Any info on motor to trans adapter for this application?
We have a '97 auto trans and a '96 5 speed. I'm thinking the 5 speed car first as the auto is my wife's DD.

I'm doing a small block S10 right now for my work truck so not afraid of fabrications and swaps.
That needs to finish before I can dig in to the zuki, so I'm trying to gather information and parts before going hogwild.
The plan is extended wheelbase, 3 link front and back, would like coilovers but not set in stone.

The weight of a replacement motor is something you may want to consider. If you replacing the trans. as well, then drive shaft length is a area of concern. I plan to step up my X90's 1600 16v to a 2000 twin cam. I'ts lite & will be much easier to install. Retain stock trans. as well.
