I got my reverse Calmini shackles today, front came apart OK, and went back together fairly quick, Calmini says it shood raise the front 2 inches, Im thinking more like 3. When i get the back done Ill measure again. the rear shackles are making life difficult.
-
;D get a bigger hammer. They are a bit tight but will go in. Try a little lube on them.
-
got it done, took maybe 3 hours in the garage using a floor jack, not to bad at all. stock shocks are way to short to fit now, front end looks way higher than back but using a levle on frame shows its close to being ok. Well post be4 and after later.
-
What did you do with your front bumper to clear the towers? Mine is just bent down a hair but I think it would be better if it was notched out just a bit.
-
i held it up to the new towers, marks how wide they were and used a hack saw to cut the bumper and then used a hammer to bend them inward.
-
i got to find some shocks now, old ones are way to short.
-
Calmini advertised 2 inches of lift, more like 2 1/2. nice kit. just need to trim bumper and new shocks

Looks good! Whoever did mine just grabbed the bumper and bent it down.
I'll be curious to hear what you go with for shocks.
-
Im going thru the Monroe catalog now, got frt and rr numbers that come close. wish I knew some one that had some Calmini shocks and cood get the number off them.
-
Yeah, I'll have to do more research. I think the shocks on mine are Calmini shocks but I can't find any numbers on them anywhere and my Sammi rides like a nightmare.
-
i came up with 2 Monroes #'s 32270 for the back and 33128 for the front, gonna pick them up tomarrow if they have then in stock.
-
Do you have a hard copy of the catalog? I looked briefly at their site and didn't see specs. I'll be curious to hear what you think. I'm gonna try to get under my Sammy this week sometime if I'm feelin up to it. Gonna check the shackle bolts and pull the shocks and look again for any markings.
-
I went to the Monroe site, found the factory shocks and wrote down the ext and compressed measurements, then the mount types, after that I went thru all the shocks and found some that were 2 1/2 longer. well see how they work.
-
i used Moroe 33128 on the front, 31000 on the back, back are a weeeeee short but workable for $20 shocks
-
Cool, thanks for the heads up! How's the ride and flex? I might steal your idea and just go with one a hair longer. Gotta get some new rubber on the Sammi first.
-
A quick search and this came up... Maybe this helps?

i went with Monroe matic 31000 on the back, took it for a ride, all for shocks work great.
-
dam, wish I wood have found that earlier, it wood have saved me a trip, but many thanks any way (-:
-
Good to know. Thanks for letting me steal your hard work...
Yeah, I should have searched but this thread was calling to me.
-
the ride is a bit more stiff, not much but you do notice some diff, no worse than a jeep with a lift kit, i kinda like it (-:
-
2 things.
1- i love the way your sami turned out. it looks awsome!
2- this is the same lift kit i wanna get and was wondering what size tires u are running and what size rim?
-
Is this lift enough to clear the front axle for a 1.6L 8v swap? Just scored a engine for $400 and now ready for a swap.

If you leave the bumpstops at factory heigth (which I recommend) You need to use the 1.3 oil pan and modify the pickup tube to work... Then your dandy... If you use the included bumpstop extensions, you do not need to modify your 1.6 oil pan and it'll fit nicely.

Ok, had the chance to go mudding the other day, been raining here for 2 weeks (-:
after installing the Calmini reverse shackles ans installing new shocks it rides great, easy to install and I can add springs later if I wanna use bigger tires than I have now, 15 by 8 CJ7 rims with 235X29X15 tires
note to self, when tires stick out further than flares make sure you have doors ................(-:
