im looking at a 92 samurai it has a spring over and 30 inch tires guy said its been a deer lease vehicle been sitting without top for 5 or 6 years. im wanting it for a daily driver/ weekend wheeler but the guy never put it on the road its only been used off road during hinting season. he wants to trade for my 90 4runner that currently isnt running. i said i would if he gave me money for a top and hauled it here. do yall think it would be worth my time or would it not be good for road use. sorry for the long post.

sitting without a top for 6 years? hows it smell inside?
-
im not worried about looks and i have ways to get a nasty smell out im just worried how it would be on the road.
-
does everything work inside? I'd be worried about rain making a mess of the electrical in cabin if its been sitting. if everything works, I'd say its a decent deal.
-
i agree if everything works then i would trade him. Samurai's can live outdoors
-
the guy sounds skeptical about it being on road and i kind of understand bcuz its never been on road. so thats my main concern.
-
take it for a drive.. Only reason i could see it not doing well on road would be bent rims or bad tires or suspension. Check these things out before you buy it. I would take it for a ride for sure though.
-
I wouldn't worry about it other then the suspension as mentioned before. We pulled one out of blackberry bushes, where it had been sitting for a few years. Nothing wrong with the body at all.
-
Lemme see...... even up trade... running - driving 4wd / non running - non driving 4wd.
Not much to consider.
Dependable off roader vs daily driver......
Might take a lil werk but least you will be movin down the road compared to rite now huh?
-
he said its gonna need lights all around.
-
Lights arent big deal, you can buy those easy on here from someone parting a sammy out. total nonissue.
-
my Zuk was sitting outside for about 7 years without being started for at least 5 years and it had a shredded top when I bought it I cleaned it up and have not really had to many major issues at all, nothing with any of the electrical. Only thing I might also check is if you have to worry about emissions there, get it checked if you can. Still though like what was said before a running Zuk for a non running 4runner =not bad trade.
-
i think im gonna do it and im tryin to talk him into 500 or at least 400 to cover top and lights. and i could run straights on it here and be fine so no im not worried about emissions unless its just pouring smoke then i dont want it.i wouldnt run straights for real just a tryin to make a point.

here is a pic i should get more but not sure when.(http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/ab204/lanelbell/091009_1822.jpg)

Where is it at?
:D
Body looks straight, good traction left on the tires. Does he still have the front bumper somewhere?
-
its in louisiana o and also part of the trade terms he has to haul it here. and i dont think he has the bumper but i can have one built for cheap.
-
I was asking about where it is in the photo. Cause of the cammo. I was making a funny. :D
