Anyone here replace a rear crank seal on a 2.0L? First question is: how do you get it out without damaging the crank? Also, can it be installed without the $120 special service tool? Any way to make the tool (i.e. piece of PVC pipe)?
The seal actually doesnt appear to be leaking, but I have the engine out of the vehicle and it seems like something that should be replaced on an engine w 80k miles.

Hook it out or gently pry it out from the opposite side with a long screw driver over a fulcrum. A lot easier than putting it in, but still not difficult. Same size PVC pipe or roundy-round tapping in no further than flush. ;)
