I want to put 4 door brakes on my 1994 2 door sidekick, I got the rotors pads and calipers, the rotors are the same diameter but thicker because they have cooling fins and are double thick so they wont fit in the stock caliper stand and the new caliper is a little longer as are the pads. so my question is will 4 door caliper stands bolt to my 2 door spindles, if so is that all I need besides what I have. I want to know because my local parts store doesn't carry the stands so I don't want to not be able to return them if they don't work and be stuck with them. -Thanks Craig

You need the 4 door spindle as well
-
Are you sure? We bolted a set of 4 door front brakes and calipers directly to BRD HNTR's two door without issues.
We didn't bother with the rear brakes as we didn't feel like swapping the backing plates.
-
I've done this several times and the calipers and brackets will bolt right on to your spindle. You may need to trim the tin rock shield slightly to clear but otherwise very easy.
-
I did a 4 door brake swap, spindles are the same, you just need the 4 door
caliper mounts and I got the vented rotors as well, then just make sure
you get the 4 door pads when you change your brakes.
This is one of the best upgrades I did for bigger tires

Amen to that!

cool Ill order the 4 door stands thanks guys!

I did this swap and used the 4dr drums as well to keep the brakes balanced.

Funny thing on my 95, when I went to the local parts store to get replacement rear brake parts, shoes and wheel cylinders, nothing for the 2 door matched up. When we looked up the 4 door stuff, everything matched up perfectly. Maybe some kind of mid year, "use up all the leftover parts" deal when they assembled my rig. Doesn't really matter, they still don't work for crap. Still want to do a disc conversion to the rear eventually.

I'm running the front calipers off a 4 door on my 2 door.
Happened to be all i had available during last minute late nioght repairs before going wheeling the next day. ;D They work great though, no problems at all.

If you're running the two door rotors then you need to keep an eye on pad wear, the 4dr rotors are thicker and you wouldn't want the pads dropping out.
-
Ok so all i need are the caliper brackets, not the entire caliper and bracket correct?

Good point. I hadn't thought of that ::)

You need the caliper, thats what gives you the extra braking. The piston on a 4-dr caliper is 20% larger by area than the piston on a 2-dr caliper. The caliper is also wider to allow for the extra thickness of the ventalated disc.

I have looked at five online parts supply companies and none list 4dr rotors and calipers. All the same from 89-97. Do I have to get salvage parts to do this upgrade or buy parts from the factory?

Edit: I used Suzuki instead of Geo and the 4drs started showing up. No 4drs for Geo?

I ordered them for a 96 4 door Sidekick from Napa. They came with the "caliper stands"

Thanks for the links. I was initially using 94 Geo Tracker in the searches. When I switched to Suzuki in the search right after I posted the 4drs started showing up for 91-97. I did notice that they also listed a larger bore master cylinder for the 4drs but it seems every one is doing fine with the 2dr master cylinder.
