like i said im looking at buying a welder..they are kinda pricey though
i think i want a tig welder since that is the easy one to use right?? how much should i look to spend and what should i look for in the unit when i goto buy one? i want it for everything..so i know itl cost a bit more but i dont want to have to buy a better one down the road
also if anyone has any web sites that i can buy one through that is cheaper let me know..the more i spend on tools the less i can spend on the zuki =-) lol

A Mig welder is the easy one to use,
and a good one is about $400 if it's
got all the gas equipment too, if you
have 220V in the Shop/Garage look
at a 220V welder too, it has much
better capacity for heavier steel

From my experiences the mig welder is easiest to use and i think many others will agree, also know as a wire feed welder. they can weld miled steel stainless steel almunium etc, but you need the right wire for the material you are going to be welding. and gas also

A push or push/pull feed (for alluminum) is the way to go.
We use Lincoln Electric Power mig 300s at the shop I work at. They are pretty sweet machines.
Spool guns are a pain in the arse cuz they hold less wire, and they are known to "clog up" more often.
definately get a welder that uses gas. Flux core wire is a pain.

TIG is very expensive, you'll get a very good MIG welder for the price of an cheap TIG unit. TIG welding is stronger if your welding up stuff like suspension arms but of coarse you must know what your doing,kor most of us go for the MIG welder.

ok i dont have a shop...i dont even have a garage :-[ but i might buy a house soon so that will change ( long story lol)...do they make extension cords that can handle 220v??
also any links to specific brand names and model numbers?? i dont mind spending 400$ since it will probably get a TON of use i just need to know just what to buy

extension cords? yes, the one my school shop has is about 200 feet.
I have used a lincoln electric MIG welder i liked that alot, but recently i used a very nice miller and i liek that alot better, sorry i dotn have the model numbers or anything.

You get what you pay for. Buy a cheap one and it may cost you dearly on the trail. Ante up and get a Miller. If you can afford the 220V, even better. Nothing welds like a Miller, just my .02 ;)
