I drive auto, but then again I don't do a lot of rock crawling, but my limited amount of trail riding has been fun despite the enjoyment of shifting has been taken away from me.  :) I'm sure a lot will say manual...

Here we go with this again.... ::)

Personaly I think the less things you got to think about the better (shifting).

It's really all personal preference. Niether is "better" outside of personal opinion.

I personally prefer manual, but I play mostly in the mud. Automatic is better in other situations and some people prefer it over manual. I don't.

well my IFS truck is auto and my SFA truck is manual... both are fun.. and my 1000 cc motor with a manual accelerates almost the same as my V6 auto.. so u get a better feelin of power with manual id say.. crawling there equal cept if you halfto stop on a steep face then the auto works well.. unless your skilled in the art of tripple peddling it  :P..

I went from manual to auto and love it but understand that steep slippery downhills can be exciting unless you sort out your low range gearing but everywhere else it's great.

True you get a better FEELING of power. Before my 1.6 16V manual Tracker got totalled I felt like I was pulling 'Gs' from stop lights. I could even stick it and smoke the tires with ATs on it.
A Kia Sorento showed me what a V6 was all about one day and left me with my tail between my legs.
