Title: Tuning Weber 32/36 on 88 Samurai
Post by: cracked91 on July 31, 2010, 06:34:07 PM
I finally got my Weber set up!!

But tuning it has been a headache.

Its blowing black smoke out the pipe, and is getting HORRIBLE mileage, around 15mpg with a 1.3 liter.

The mixture and idle screws do not show any significant difference when it s running.

I can bottom out both Mixture screws, and it still blows black smoke.

Anyone know anything about this? Pics & diagrams could be helpful. Thanks

Weber carbs are traditionally built to be tuned by changing the jets
to the size of the engine it's installed on, so you either need a jet
kit, or go find a VW hotrod shop and have them swap or sell you the size
that they think is best.

weber carbs are very simiple to rejet.  I ended up running 130 and 135 in mine on the main jet with my 1.3
