When I put the 235s on my Tracker I didn't include the spare. Yesterday I was looking at it's mount and it doesn't look like a 235 would mount to the stock carrier. What are you guys doing to mount a spare other than getting Calmini's carrier.

Is the bumper hitting the larger tire? I have a 33x12.50 hanging on my factory location, but no longer have the rear bumper

Yes, it is the bumper that would be in the way.
-
Sorry, can't help. I removed my stock bumper before I went with a larger spare. If you are not locked, you could use a smaller spare to get you back home.

What exactly would a locker do in this situation?

Okay, Before you yell at me this is a Jeep part, but I think it will work.
It is a spare tire relocation bracket. It moves the spare up and out a little. Quadratec sells them.

If you have different size tires on a locked axle, it (the locker) will think you are in a constant state of wheel spin. Causing it to lock and unlock constantly and trashing your locker, axle, etc... Whatever breaks first :o

i cut the part of the spare tire mount off that holds the tire asnd welded it back on further up and further out.

I've seen some nice fab work on custom spare swing arms and the like.... if you're into that sort of stuff. When I consider moving to larger tires, I'll do mine just like Heather's rig. It's a nice setup and I have a friend that will do the fab. work for me!

Relax, the 235 will fit fine on the stock mount. Looks like it's sitting on the bumber but my tailgate opens and closes fine.
-
BK is correct 235 will mount no prob, I had 30x9.5 on stock rim and on stock mount, all I had to do was reverse mount the tire on the mount (less of an offset) and space it out a bit.
-
i had my 34/9.50 spare on a home made, extra heavy duty, huge backspaced rim. it cleared the bumper fine but did a number on the tailgate. then i backed into a tree with it soo i got a new one and took the rack off.

OHHH I forgot i have a 3in body lift. my bad, never even crossed my mind. but that 235 should still fit fine.

I thought I put a 235 on my spare rack
when I was stock and I never remember it
hitting, it is like 1/4 of an inch from the bumper
tho, but fits fine, the little rubber stoppers on
the gate seem to get squeezed hard, I think
I would remove them, BTW I have a 33 12.5
swamper on the stock rim and on the rack, it's
a bit of a squeeze to get it on, but it fits ;D

My 30x9.5 fits on it fine. I did have to trim the rubber bump stops with my sawzall because of the number they were doing on the tire sidewall. I also took the tire mount off and added a few washers to the bottom two mounts causing the bottom of the mount to kick out a half inch or so.

Yesterday I tried mounting one of the 235's on the spare tire mount. It did not come close to fitting. The retread may be taller than a regular 235, but it wouldn't fit on the stock carrier at all. I guess for now I have to live with an undersized spare.
