Title: runs rough at low RPM
Post by: Gordr6 on September 12, 2010, 01:22:59 PM
This is my first post on this board and I'm lost on my problem and could really use some help.

I have a 1993 Suzuki 4 door automatic with a 16V 1.6 motor. The truck runs really rough around 1000-1200 RPM and is fine at idle above 1200RPM. I feels like its going to stall but hasn't yet. When i bought the truck it was did this and I have since replaced the motor and it still does it so I know it isn't the motor. when I disconnect/plug the hose from the modulator (I believe it is) to the EGR the truck doesn't run rough at all. I've been driving this way for a while but I want to fix it properly. My gas mileage is that great either. I don't know the MPG but I'm getting about 300 kms per tank. The VSV is also ticking.

Is this my EGR valve that is failing? I've cleaned it out and their isn't any carbon build up in it.

Thanks

You might want to check the vacuum hose routing and their condition

do you mean check and replace the tubes?

my truck is a 93, will parts from a 98 fit? someone by mean has a parts truck and will sell me the intake and everything related for $100. would it work?

Not sure about the 98 and the interchangeability, but yes, replace
cracked ones and check with a diagram the routing, making sure they
are all going to the right places, just 2 hoses swapped could cause
these problems, so it is critical, and since you swapped engines it must
be in the intake and or computer inputs, MAF clean and in the right direction
etc.

No go for most of the parts on the 98.  While there are a few that swap over the entire EGR system is different.  You would be better off finding another 95 or older to pull from.

Their is an EGR modular that connects to the EGR main. inside the modulator is a filter and when I looked at it the half the filter is hard as a rock. I think that's my problem, its getting no flow. I'm trying to find one and see if that's it.

Let us know if that fixes the issue.

its 75% better, but still runs funny. I'm assuming their is some carbon in the lines that past through that created a blockage. do I just use brake cleaner and clean the parts with it?
