I developed a skip in my 89 kick and it was diagnosed with low compression in #4 cylinder. Mechanic suggested a valve adjustment might be in order or possible worse problems. I removed the valve cover and attempted to adjust what seemed to be some over tight valves. Skip is gone, but not sure I got the right clearance for adjustment. Heard some rumors that owner manuel not exactly right on their info. Anyone know the gap for 1.6 intake and exhaust valves?

It tells the clearances (hot and cold) on one of the stickers inside the hood, IIRC.

.006 intake .008 exhaust (inches)
in mm I don't know, one thing that
caused me problems was that Zuke Valves
tighten as they wear, which creates burned
valves, and a valve job for me at 200,000
until then the motor had never been apart.
Good Luck
