I ordered my second set of spacers from Jeff1997 for my newer ride a 96 5sp tracker. On my 91 it took me 5 hours to install all 4. does anyone know a easy way to install these i was going to get a coil spring compressor but it will not work because of the bump stop. and i used strut spring compressor on my old one. any help would be great, i will be doing this, this weekend in my driveway with air tools, a jack and jack stands.
-
you can get coil spring compressors that mount externally one on each side of the spring. i picked mine up from princess auto for 20 bucks.
-
I used one of those on my old tracker and I had a hard time because the compressor would hit the control arm
-
-
I guess I am not getting what you are saying
-
It's a good guide and easy to follow. That's what I used the first time . I have one 5 since then. and did each one faster.
-
i used a spring compressor the first time i did this.
i just finished increasing the puck size and did it without a compressor. it was much easier than messing with the compressor.
i found the a-arm would drop enough to just stick 'em in.

If you go to the top of this page to the GEAR GUIDE and click on it you will find how to do this and a lot of outher stuff :)
-
unbolt the anti-sway bar in front and the wishbone link in rear (and all shocks) should be a 1/2 hour job per end if you do this.
-
ok so for the front if i undo the sway bar links it will drop enough. will i have to do anything with the cv shaft. also i prolly should put the jack under the control arm and slowly lower it until the spring goes loose

yep, the cv shaft (should) come out pretty easy when the knuckle swings down. and always smart to slowly let it down with a jack.
-
ok cool when i take the snap ring off of the cv shaft do i take the alen bolts at the knuckle for the hubs
-
if the c-clips off you dont need to remove the whole hub just slide out the cv
-
as far as i know i think they are on there never had to replace the shaft just the passanger side lockout
-
well i got her done thursday only took 3 hours doing it myself.
-
Pic's or it didn't happen. :D

Looks good! Are you going to put large tires on it?
-
i am getting 31x10.50lt15 bfg all terrains on friday
-
Nice. :)
-
You'll really like those BFG's, great all around tire. I've done almost everything, really, with mine and have never been dissapointed.
-
i do love bfg's i am thinking about trying some toyo open terrain tires

FWIW... I have ran the toyo open country m/t's on a couple rigs and know many friends and family that have too. and it it 100% agreed THEY ARE CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! piss poor longevity, WAY overpriced and really nothing special off road.
-
thank you for that i will not waste my money on the toyo's
-
On another note, I love my Toyo All Terrains on my Tracker. I run the 235/75 R15s, in order to get the LT version with the stronger sidewalls, and have nothing but good things to say about them. They work great in the snow, sand and on dirt roads. The only thing I haven't run them on is rocks and mud, which I can't imagine them doing all that well due to the rather conservative tread pattern.

Here it is with the 31x10.50's on it
