I had to tow my Sidekick out of a real tight spot where it had gotten stuck between some trees and rocks. When I towed it out I had to pull from a really strange angle from the rear.
In the process I cracked the cross member that the wishbone on the rear axel mounts to.
I have a few different ideas on how to fix the problem but was hoping to see if anyone has experienced and fixed this type of problem.
Any suggestions would be great maybe some pictures
Thanks

Where did you break the third link at? Did it tear off the frame?

Sounds like you were pulling from the axle and
not from the frame, I have never seen a failure there

I broke the frame of the car not the wish bone the frame broke between the two mounting points that the wish bone mount to.
I belive that the axil cought on one a slab of rock which would have created a similar force as pulling from the axil.
The two soulutions I am considering:
1. welding it back together w/ gussets or to
2. replacing the cross beam with some square tubing and new mounts for the wish bone.
what do you think?

Depends on the break, post a pic in you can, I think I would
try welding and patching the frame before a total replacement
on the cross member
