Title: samurai smoking when shifts

Sorry about this repost but want to know what it would cost to fix? Cud I just replace the rings if that's the problem or will I have to overhaul the engine valves wud b easy enough I think if that's the problem.   It smoke between shifts .

Sounds like you need to do a leakdown test on it and see exactly where it is leaking. It could be rings, or it could be valve related, i.e. worn valveguides/seals.

Nicotine patches, smoking causes cancer, so it would be a good idea to
get your Samurai to stop smoking as soon as you can, or better yet, take
away the cigarettes that way it can't smoke between shifts.  :laugh:

Sorry I just had to post that, it's highly likely that you need to replace the
rings and you should do the head at the same time, do a minor rebuild, replace
the bearings, hone the cylinders, use the old pistons and put it back together,
should run at least another 80-100K miles
