Ok, I've been playing musical diffs here lately. I took a 5.12 with lockright out of one, installed another 5.12 I had laying around. Then took the 4.30 out of my auto and put the locked 5.12 in.
The 4.30 I took out of my auto looks different from every other Tracker diff. I've seen.
I don't know what I'm talking about, but I'll try to explain it..... On the 4.30 on the inside side the ring gear down in the carrier? you can see 2 more sets of gears.............. On all the other diffs. I've seen this part is smooth like the outside of a bearing
Whats the difference.....

ok here are some pictures now do you mean those gears down in the middle of the ring gear?

Thanks for the pics. The sidegears in mine are "meshed" together. The other two I changed weren't like this, you couldn't see the sidegears, they had like a bearing cover over them. what does this mean? anything?
-
could be wrong but they may have been welded or they are damaged you have any pix?
-
I can't post pics on this site. I've tried before, I can't figure it out, even with the instructions.
The diff. isn't welded, it came out of my driver I've had for over a year.
It doesn't appear to be damaged. I'm just lost on why it looks different from every other tracker diff. I've been into
I realize its hard without pics

Ok I posted super simple easy instructions on posting pix a few days ago on another thread but anyway I am not really sure why they would be so different I have not looked at to many diffs but all the ones I have seen were all basically the same.

Sounds like a front (open can see gears) and a rear (closed) because it's a 3 pin 4 spider diff
Unless I missed something
