Title: unknown sensor question

Ok so I just sprayed off my transmission alittle and found a sensor that isnt connected to anything. Can anyone tell me what it is and if its important?

I believe that is the fifth gear switch.  It works with the ECU to adjust ignition/fuel delivery for optimum mileage.

otherwise it is the transmission's reverse gear switch - which turns on the backup lights in reverse gear.

thanks for the help my reverse lights dont work so that may be it. I have two wire from a connector on the harness that arent connected to anything and i thought it just went to the lights so thank you for the info I will connect the wires to that then.
