ok just a question put bigger tires (30x9.5 )(so not that big)on trackick and while in 4x4 it is extremely hard to steer it all most like its got a locker in it or some thing like that when i had 235's on it i cant remember if it was this hard to steer but when in 4lo sh*t hold on or you will drive off the road so just wondering if this is normal cause i put bigger tires on or do i just need power steering which will be in the future want to buy other things first ???

manual steering sucks, especially in 4wd with off-road tires. Get power steering on that thing quick. Best upgrade I made to my Sammy...turned 33's Swampers no problem.
-
You might have a locker in front and don't know it.
I run 33s and it's not that hard to steer, but with the locker
in front it got lots more difficult

The larger tires will make some difference, but it does sound like you have a locker in the front.... does it get easier to steer if you are not on the gas when trying to turn? I ran with a locker and 33's for years with no PS and the day I installed PS I wanted to slap myself for not doing it sooner.

Oh yea... be sure to keep those fingers out of the steering wheel until you get PS. One good tire grab on a rock in 4 low will snap the steering wheel around and bend a finger back real quick.

i had put 31" tires on my sidekick.
i wrestled with that manual steering for a few years.
just finished a power steering conversion and am real pleased(so far).
i also wish i'd done this a long time ago..........

I bought an ARB instead of power steering on my SJ-410. BRD HNTR went the power steering route and thinks I'm silly for sticking with my manual steering box. But I really don't want to loose the HP. :D

well my next questioin then is how can i tell besides opening frt diff ? was going downhill 4lo to save the brakes not too rough and man i tell you hard to hold on and im not that weak .....(i think)

You might have one hub not working and causing torque steer

To test for a locker jack up the front end, lock your hubs, put it in 4wd and spin a tire. If it is an open front end the other tire will spin the opposite direction.
-
well did frt brakes and turned hubs in and cv's turned so i dont think its a hub not working
-
but wild do you got power steering with 33's i would think so but have to ask
-
No power steering, just arms, I do have a power steering box
but no pump installed yet, I had to swap it in when the gears
in the stock steering box disintegrated and I was at the Tierra
Del Sol off road safari and wanted to wheel
