I have a 95 sidekick 16 valve that I just put a new head gasket in. It runs okay, but it seems to be a little powerless I think it has low compression. when the rpm is about 1000-2500 it seems to sputter a little, but under heavy acceleration and high rpm's I don't notice it. could this be trimming or TPS problems? also I think the kick down cable for the auto trans. needs to be adjusted because it shifts a little hard sometimes and doesn't down shift very fast. How is the cable supposed to be adjusted?

id did u check ignition timing and valve adjustment

I adjusted the valves when I first put it together, so I don't think that is an issue. I do think I might have the dissy off a couple of degrees. Does anyone know what two wires I need to conent on the computer plug buy the battery to time the dissy? the other thing is the stupid timing belt cover is rubbing on the timing belt, so I need to figure out some why to stop that before it rips out the belt. On almost ever 1.6 motor I have seen there has been some sort of interferance in that area.

Try advancing the timing a couple degrees above factory spec. I had a real hole in my power band around 2k until I did that.

I will try that. would about the timing cover? should a find a new one and mayber that will fix it or what ???
