Title: Gauges don't work
Post by: weldboy on November 04, 2010, 03:47:20 PM
I just installed a Adventure Offroad GM CS130 Alternator kit off of ebay. On my 86 Samurai ,I supplied my own new alt. I've read there wiring plug doesn't sense the voltage and i need to rewire the Blk/Wht wire. But now i've noticed my temp gauge sits on the bottom and my gas gauge sits pegged at the top. They were working fine before I changed over, any ideas ???? ???    Thanks

Sounds like you disconnected a ground wire.

Check these out, and make sure you wire your alt according to the second diagram.  You'll have the most success this way.  As I understand it, the kit you bought has a plug that utilizes the fused/switched circuit in the factory wire harness.  You don't want to use that or you'll over/under charge (because sammy wiring sucks).

If you've wired it correctly and still no gauges, post back.
