Title: burns oil when once warm?
Post by: traildominater21 on November 10, 2010, 11:39:49 AM
I am confused, my 1.6 93 tracker started smoking pretty bad like it was burning some serious oil but once i got it home and let it cool down the oil was fine and it stopped smoking. I dont know if it just got 2 hot cus my temp gauge doesnt work and its fine to drive again or if i should just park it till i can afford to fix whatever needs to be fixed.

If you're burning oil that bad, don't drive it, you'll just make it worse.

As for what it could be, pull the valve cover and take a peek.  Post back when you have.  Also check your oil color/consistency.

You sure it was oil?  Was it steam?

Trying to rule out a head gasket...

Could be a busted rocker arm, happened to me once.

Check the PCV and make sure the oil isn't over full.
Did you add anything to gas like Seafoam?

Oil additives never fix engine problems.
