I have a 97 geo tracker with a 1.6 16 valve that I want to swap into my 86 samurai. I'm looking at the complete kit that trail offers for like six hundred dollars, but I don't know if it's worth the money. Has anyone done this, and is there maybe a cheaper route?

i think its worth it. makes it easy all you have to figure out on your own is the fuel hook up. 2 things i didn't like is the studs kept backing out of the block even with loctite i switched to bolts all better and the pump is loud very loud but I'm happy
if you have the time and the wire harness you could wire it your self but trail tough is fast and if you have any questions they will answer them

what do they even do other than convert the speedo? I just don't know what they are doing that is worth 300 dollars, ya know?

Ask them, I'm sure they'll explain it.
The only other option is to get a FSM for the sidekick and figure out the wiring yourself. The $300 doesn't include the speedo modifications.

when you buy the kit you send your wiring for the 1.6 and your speedo and the tracker speedo they swap the speed sensor and mod the wiring harness so for wiring all you have to do is connect 7 wires. The rest of the kit is the plate for the trans of you are using yous samurai tanny fuel pump and some other pieces They recommenda 1" body lift to get the hood to close sold separate. I found some 1" thick steel stock made my own lift. you can e-mail then and they will answer all you want to know IF you don't like wiring its worth the money!
