I was wondering how I can tell what size tires will fit my wheels? The wheels I have on my 87 samurai say 10x8, what does that mean? Thank you guys for the help.
-
Probably meant 15x8?
15 inch is the diameter of the wheel, and 8" would be the width. If you have a tape measure you can easily verify.
Generally for an 8" wheel you don't want to go wider then 10.50" tire. So some tire size options 31x10.50, 32x10.50, and 33x10.50. Bigger sizes will be harder to find, and the 33x10.50 might be hard to find.

Here you go:

Go here and hit the "more" button on the right. It will show you what tire sizes are recommended for your wheel size.

I have 235 75 15 and they were a bear to seal on my 8 inch wide wheels
-
they've held really well on mine but I havent gone wheeling either so I dont know how well they would hold then. Im hoping at somepoint to chage from the 235/75-15's I have right now for 31x10.50x15's

I've got 15 X 8 rims on the Gnewt, and I'm running 33 X 10.50 tires. I didn't NEED wider than 10.50's.

My bad, hit specs, then when it opens the next window hit the more button on the right.

If I change the rims of my Samurai will larger size will its performance be affected and to what extent. Do suggest me some tips to buy larger sized and light weight rims.

biggest difference will be bc they weigh more it will slow stuff down. you can get alloys which will help keep weight low. the ones i have are alloy 15x8 and do a perfect job with 33x12.50s.
AND, theyre for sale if your interested ;D

Thanks friend your offer is really interesting but I am still confused as my friends say that I leave the rim and do not alter with the tires as it has adverse effect on the performance.

Well, it will certainly slow down your rig. But with the correct gearing you can get most of your power back, it comes down to sacrificing utility/looks vs performance. Or you can bypass the issue and put in a larger motor, giving you both. :D
