Title: transmission rebuild help!!!

im in the process of rebuilding my 3 speed automatic th180 out of my 90 geo tracker. I bought a rebuild kit and it has more steel plates and friction plate then what was in the transmission itself.  ??? could anyone tell me how many steel plates and frictions plates are needed to be used for each gear.

I think you want to match the # of the old plates, or at
least have the stack the same height as the old ones or
slightly over to allow for wear.

But as far as an absolute answer, I don't know
