Title: Tracker math

...and some lovin' from this...

...equals...

Still need to trim the fenders.  The sawzall only came with one blade and I didn't think to buy more.  I have to trim the back side of the front fenderwells and the front side of the rear fender wells.

The new tires are 36x13.50x15 Super Swamper IROKs on 15x8 wheels with 2.5" backspacing. The old tires are 32.9.50x15 bias ply TSLs on 15x7 Allied beadlocks with 2" backspacing.  Believe it or not, the new tires and wheels are lighter than the smaller package.

A couple of random shots.

Local cop is buying the beadlocks and 32s.

Seems everyone and their brother wanted those. :)

Gotta report back with how those fit after trimming... gonna do any additional spring spacing? I'm trying to decide on 34" or 36" TSL's...

PS: I remember your buildup thread on the [H] from a while ago... that was what got me interested in Sidekicks :)

Oh, damn!

You bought a Tracker 'cause of me?  I'm sorry!  ;D

Whatever you do, don't ever look at my Eclipse, then.  :P

It's raining here, tomorrow doesn't look much better. It's in the garage (barely) but there's hardly any room to work on it, we still have a buttload of boxes crammed in it from the move.  Hopefully I'll make enough room to finish the fenders tomorrow.

As it's looking now I may need to re-work part of the interior floorboard on the rear.  Hard to say right now.

Either way, it's worth it to get rid of the pizza cutters. It looks MUCH better with some meat on it.

Some crappy shots from in the garage...

lol... I remember hearing you talk about it occassionally over there, but I never did see it :o

I've already got more than one project already ;)

Your truck looks great with those tires on it... :)

Also: how high do those tires actually measure out to be?

It's very cooooool!!!!!!

But i think that a widened front end with a rear axles rotation (a la Mike Hagen) can help you for tires clearance!?

Trimming is done...to a point.  It's streetable right now, will need more trimming to reach the limit of the suspension's twist.  Took it to the gas station for a fill-up, it rode tons better (no beadlocks) and the engine didn't have a problem pulling the rig along.

Agent_Orange, ROFL.  Is there a pool going on how long I last when answering questions that were directed to me?  ;D

1bigtracker, no floorboard cutting yet.

Digger, could you stomach it?  :P  It might get pretty ugly.

In_Flames, Yeah, I don't think "Tonka Toy" applies anymore.

explosivo, on 15x8s they measure out to 36" even.

Fredo, not sure on Hagen's front end and rear axle set-ups.  I've seen them but I haven't really messed with the Tracker in months.  I just got the new 2004 Calmini catalog and though "Yeah! I need to do something with that thing!"  Too bad Calmini's swing-a-way will only fit up to a 33".  :-/

No Chevy motor?  What about Jeep axles, then?   :D

No, haven't updated the old website in ages. I've been working (slowly) on a new one.

Here's a better shot to give an overall idea of how it looks.

So, are those Iroks lighter than similarly sized TSL Bias Ply's? Your Tracker have any trouble pushing them?

I'd say there is going to be some
serious rubbing at flex with those
big bad boys  ;D

I though 35s were too big without
cutting. Nice looking tires  :)

Actually that B&D recripicating saw is not a Sawzall.  Sawzall is a registered trademark by Milwaukee Elec. Tool, whom I just happen to work for.
I'll get of my soapbox now.  :)
Sweet looking truck dude!  The new tires make a huge (no pun intented) difference.

Dude, your soapbox was cardboard, it collapsed
long ago, take it as a compliment, like hand me
a Kleenex, no refference intended that your products
should be compaired to blowing your nose or snot

Eh, it's like saying "band-aid" or "coke"

Did the cookout thing today, a couple of friends came over.

Here's a brief synopsis.

We brought out the car ramps, put alternate corners on it, turned the compressed front corner to full lock and see how much trimming needed to be done.

The basic idea...

...another shot.

Exhaust needed to be lopped off.  Sawzall made it a quick fix.

Now here's where the fun begins.  In the Budweiser hat you'll find Chuck.  A quick tidbit about Chuck, he's NEVER operated a grinder.  He's never even THOUGHT about using a grinder on a vehicle.

Guess what...Chuck was the only guy operating the grinder today.  :D

He had fun, Steve and I had fun watching him.

Here's Chuck having fun...and me behind the camera not caring.

Getting started in the back.

Now he's really enjoying himself.

We went in, ate, came back out and decided to finish up the front.

Um...that looks like a hole in the floorboard!    :D
(http://www.projecttwin.com/images/tracker/36s/DSC05500.JPG)

Yup, it is.  This is earlier in the day, before we ate.  The hole is much larger.  Nothing a little sheetmetal and a welder can't fix.  ;)

BTW, there's something enjoyable about owning a vehicle that you don't worry about. Not even when a guy that's never used a grinder is ripping away at it.

Complete and total fun.

Hehe, as I mentioned on the other forums, a big hammer is a much more quick and effecient way of gaining clearance ;D

Do you have much rubbing on the framerail at full lock on the ramps?
Title: Re: Tracker math
Post by: ProjectTwin on May 31, 2004, 06:42:07 PM
So that was you?  He-he "I'd hit it!"

No rubbing on the frame, just the front floorboards.

Driver's rear hit the exhaust, easy fix.

Pass. rear hit the guard in front of the downtube going to the fuel tank, with the guard removed it's fine.

The tires also touch the Calmini winch bumper.  I'll lop an inch or so off it.  Just enough to make it flow with the fenderwell.

I'm going to (have Chuck) trim the front side of the rear fenderwells a lil' more, just to neaten them up.

One more question: what backspacing are you running with those? I have slight frame rubbing with my 33's and 4" of backspacing... that seems to be a bit too much...
